About Jon Drews

Hi there!

Welcome to my site! This is a special place - dedicated to nature and wildlife photography.

I live on a hobby farm on the edge of town and our property is host to an abundance of wildlife. And not just little critters. One year we had a Moose on the property! Another year we had a Cougar pass by - checking out Benjamin, our Miniature Donkey. That encounter occurred in the middle of the night. The Cougar was 'screaming' as he passed - it is a horrific noise!  I rushed outside in my PJ's and started making noise.  The Cougar started circling my position. Not good! After a few tense moments, the Cougar began to move on. (He probably decided I was too nutsy to eat and would give him nightmares.) What a night!

With all the wildlife, there are ample opportunities for photography. In fact, a good majority of the photos on this site were taken on the hobby farm. Additionally, I have access to some deep, unspoiled woods and open prairie.

I first started taking pictures with a Kodak Instamatic when I was 11. At age fourteen, I had a paper route and I saved my money to buy a gorgeous Olympus OM-1. What a day! What a camera. I loved going out with that camera.

And that was where I began my journey as a Photographer.

Moving on, friends and family encouraged me to offer some of my prints for sale. My good friend and Mentor, Richard, has been especially encouraging. (He's a great guy - and an outstanding photographer. If you ever get to Oregon, just ask for Richard. Did I mention he is a great guy?) All this encouragement culminated in the website you are presently visiting.

Please, take some time to view a Gallery or two - or view them all! I have over 350 images on the site and they are all for sale. Many are well suited for large format. Paper, canvas, metal - you name it. And you can even purchase greeting cards and mugs! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or just as effective, email me at jon@redbarnproject.com.

Some of you may still be wondering: What's the deal with the Red Barn? And why is it such a Project? I may get to that story someday in my upcoming Blog. For today, please enjoy the images I have provided.

Thank you.

Jon
